——International Students Institute Leaders and Teachers Visit International Students Staying in The Dormitory
As the old year gives way to the new, a new chapter unfolds. To help international students staying on campus experience the rich atmosphere of traditional Chinese festivals and the warm care of the university. At 9:00 a.m. on February 16, Ms Shao Xiujuan, Dean of the International Students Institute, led teachers Li Yunjie and Yu Miao to the International students dormitories. They cordially visited and extended greetings to 140 International students spending their winter vacation on campus, offering New Year blessings and warm care to those far away from home.

One of the most anticipated parts of the event was the New Year dumpling Feast. At the beginning of the activity, Dean Shao Xiujuan sent her best wishes for the Year of the Horse to the International students and explained the cultural meaning of dumplings — a symbol of reunion, happiness and good fortune, and an indispensable dish on Chinese New Year’s Eve tables. As plump dumplings were boiled and served steaming hot, students could not wait to taste the fruits of their own hands and gave thumbs-up one after another.
EL-HILALI MARWA, an International student from Morocco, said: “This is my first New Year’s Eve in China and my first time eating dumplings. Although I cannot reunite with my family, teachers and classmates here are just like relatives, making me feel the warmth of home. I will cherish this memory forever.”

Teachers also presented carefully prepared New Year “Fu” characters and gifts to every International student staying on campus. The red Fu characters, full and auspicious, are the most iconic symbol of the Spring Festival, carrying the university’s wishes for students’ safety, happiness, academic success and all the best. Teachers handed out New Year gifts, helped students paste the Fu characters, and took group photos with everyone warmly. International students were all smiling with joy.
HOSSAIN, a student from Bangladesh, said: “Thank you for the care from the university and teachers. This Fu character makes me feel strong Chinese New Year atmosphere!”

A new year brings renewal and vitality. This condolence activity, bonded by the Spring Festival and connected by warmth, has shown the university’s open, inclusive and people-oriented educational spirit. It not only allowed International students to personally experience traditional Chinese New Year customs and taste authentic Chinese food, but also deepened their understanding and recognition of excellent traditional Chinese culture through hands-on practice, building a platform for exchanges and interactions among students from all over the world.
We wish all international students a happy Chinese New Year, good health, academic progress and family happiness!
