The opening ceremony of the Russian Summer Camp of Shenyang Urban Construction University was successfully held in Meeting Room 404 of the School of International Education on July 6. Li Houyan, Vice President of the university, attended the event. Shao Xiujuan, Dean of the School of International Education, Yu Mingxin, Secretary of the General Party Branch of the School, and all faculty members of the school were present. They gathered with young Russian campers who traveled a long way to embark on a 14-day journey of Chinese language learning and research into traditional Chinese culture.

Li Houyan officially announced the launch of the summer camp. She stated that China and Russia are neighboring countries linked by mountains and rivers with long-standing friendly relations. Young people serve as a vital bridge passing down the friendship between the two nations. This 14-day study tour offers a precious opportunity for young people from both countries to communicate face to face and connect heart to heart. She hoped all campers would immerse themselves in Chinese learning, take an active part in diverse cultural activities, and experience the authentic and vivid China in person.

Shao Xiujuan introduced the school’s teaching faculty and international student population. She encouraged campers to communicate proactively and confidently, appreciate the unique charms of Chinese and Russian cultures respectively, cherish this rare offline research opportunity, and gain knowledge and insights throughout the program.

Yu Mingxin delivered a message to the students, urging them to take this summer study tour as an opportunity to transcend geographical boundaries, deepen friendship and achieve mutual growth through mutual learning and exchange.

Wang Shanshan, faculty representative, gave a detailed presentation on the full curriculum plan for the summer camp.

Fun prize-winning interactive games were arranged at the ceremony. Quiz sessions and team games featuring traditional Chinese culture were held one after another, quickly closing the gap between Chinese and Russian teachers and students, and filling everyone with anticipation for the upcoming study program.

The successful launch of this Russian Summer Camp marks an important milestone for the School of International Education in deepening foreign-related educational cooperation and advancing Sino-Russian cultural exchanges. It not only testifies to the tangible outcomes of the school’s standardized transnational exchange program system, but also represents the fruitful achievements garnered by the school through years of sustained efforts in Sino-Russian educational exchange and the establishment of a standardized international cooperation framework.

Rooted in the university’s geographical advantages and distinctive school-running characteristics, the School of International Education has long focused on educational and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries and steadily advanced its layout of international cooperation. It has refined its working system across multiple dimensions including institutional partnerships, joint curriculum development, and exchanges between teachers and students, establishing a mature and replicable operation model for cross-border exchange programs that laid a solid foundation for the launch of this summer camp. The school maintains regular communication with institutions worldwide, continuously expands stable cooperative partners, and builds long-term friendly cooperation channels. Meanwhile, it has improved a full-range supporting service system for foreign students coming to China for exchange. Through long-term systematic operation, the school has built a closed-loop exchange system covering cross-border visits of teachers and students, integrated online and offline activities, and short-term and long-term study programs. This system eliminates the limitations of one-off and fragmented cross-border exchanges and realizes regular and long-term communication between Chinese and foreign youth.

In the future, relying on its well-established exchange operation system, the School of International Education will further expand cooperative institutions in Russia, continuously upgrade and optimize study tour curricula and service packages for overseas students visiting China, and build high-quality platforms for people-to-people exchanges between China and foreign countries. It will vividly tell Chinese stories, convey profound friendship between China and other nations, and boost the steady development of the university’s internationalization drive with tangible outcomes of international education.
